- European Week for Safety and Health at Work puts spotlight on safe maintenance

Safe maintenance is the focus of this year’s European Week for Safety and Health at Work (24 - 28 October) with a series of awareness-raising events, including workshops, seminars and exhibitions taking place all over Europe. In the Agency’s home town Bilbao the week is celebrated with a multi-activity event, inaugurated by EU-OSHA director Dr Christa Sedlatschek. A Safe Maintenance Magazine features articles demonstrating a wide range of maintenance-related issues that impact safety and health in the workplace.
- Promoting entrepreneurship: European SME Week 2011

The yearly European SME Week is a pan-European campaign designed to promote and support entrepreneurship. It showcases the support available to business at European, national, regional and local level. At more than 500 events so far SMEs and micro-firms share experiences and develop their businesses. There is also a special focus on promoting entrepreneurship as a career option, especially for younger people. The registration of events for the European SME Week 2011 will be open until 30 November 2011.
- Dressmaker by Krzysztof Maksymowicz (1st Prize)
- Photography has been a passion of mine for several years; it is my hobby, my refuge from work and daily life. When taking this photograph I was trying to capture a universal occupational safety image, something that could apply to every person. And so I came up with the idea to photograph a sewing woman (dressmaker) with a needle and a thimble – a tool which is slowly becoming forgotten. The picture is symbolic, capturing risk prevention in its most basic form.
