World AIDS Day – 1 December

The health care sector presents a large number of hazards and risks and complex occupational safety and health management problems, including diseases such as AIDS. In this respect, prevention of sharps injuries is particularly important. It is not just medical professionals who are at risk. Auxiliary staff such as cleaners and laundry staff can also be at significant risk. To address this problem, Directive 2010/32/EU to prevent sharp injuries in the hospital and healthcare sector was adopted. Member States shall implement the directive by 11 May 2013 at the latest.

EU-OSHA supports the implementation of the directive and prevention of HIV/AIDS by providing good practice resources including information on:

World Mental Health Day – 10 October

10th October is World Mental Health Day. The time to remind ourselves and others that mental health is an important aspect of general health – a value that should not be underestimated. The workplace can be a particularly important setting to maintain good mental health through both prevention of psychosocial risks and promotion of mental health.

INT - NIOSH List of Hazardous Drugs in Healthcare Settings to Minimize Exposure and Reduce Health Risks

 About 8 million U.S. healthcare workers are potentially exposed to hazardous drugs, including pharmacy and nursing personnel, physicians, environmental services workers, workers in research laboratories, veterinary care workers, and shipping and receiving personnel.

Sometimes we need the light more..it was taken a full body harness manufacturer in Germany..

I took this photo in a organ manufacturer.The man welding iron material wasn't using the any mask against welding gases. I took notice of the picture on the wall. There was a baby which puts personal protective equipment!And I learned that that child was son of other worker who works in the same section with him. Sometimes emotional figures urges us to protect ourselves but it should be a culture.

Working at such high altitudes requires a special certificate of health. If someone gets sick or injured, it's a long way down to the ground. The technicians are trained to help their colleagues down if an accident happens.
Small boatyard in Sicily-4
In a small boatyard on the coasts of Sicily, Italy , workers comprise locals and foreigners, mainly from far East. The working environment is rough and poor, the boatyard being settled under a motorway. In the heat of sicilian summer, the construction process is carried on partly in some huge, basic sheds, partly on oper air. Workers wear safety gloves and masks.
