The ETUC-REHS, formerly, the trade union technical bureau (TUTB), carries out a lot of work on a wide variety of issues. Training activities with AFETT/ETUCO The TUTB regularly organises training activities in collaboration with AFETT and ETUCO. Approximately 88 participants from ten applicant Eastern European countries are invited to participate: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. d in a local project as a volunteer. On the other hand, it allows a wide range of different organisations to work together and build European partnerships by exchanging volunteers. Training for European Works Councils The TUTB develops training and information tools for European Works Councils in collaboration with the European Industry Federations (European federations of textile, metallurgy and chemistry).
The Health and Safety Department provides resources of expertise to trade union members of the Advisory Committee on Safety, Hygiene and Health Protection at Work, which meets in Luxembourg, and the Bilbao-based European Agency for Safety and Health at Work.
It conducts research into such fields as risk assessment, prevention systems, musculo-skeletal disorders, gender dimensionand health at work, ergonomics, mental workload and occupational stress.It runs networks of experts on technical standardisation (ergonomics, safety of machinery) and hazardous substances (classification, risk assessment, setting occupational exposure limits). The Foundation is a European Agency, one of the first to be established to work in specialised areas of EU policy. Specifically, it was set up by the European Council (Council Regulation (EEC) No. 1365/75 of 26 May 1975), to contribute to the planning and design of better living and working conditions in Europe.
The Foundation carries out research and development projects, to provide data and analysis for informing and supporting the formulation of EU policy on working and living conditions. The Foundation has a network of experts throughout Europe who conduct research on its behalf including assessing the current national situations, the preparation of case studies and national reports and the conducting of surveys.
As part of its research base, the Foundation maintains a number of key monitoring tools, such as the European Industrial Relations Observatory (EIRO), European surveys on working conditions and Monitoring Quality of Life in the EU. Their focus has been extended to include all of the Member States and candidate countries.
Also, the Foundation maintains a long-standing commitment to the issue of equal opportunities for women and men in their social and working life.

International Social Security Association (ISSA) was founded in 1927. The organisation members include social security institutions throughout the world. The International Sections of the ISSA have as their mission the promotion of international and regional activities in the field of prevention of occupational risks through exchange of information and experiences, organization of meetings, working groups, round tables and seminars, carrying out studies and inquiries and publication of documents on safety and health at work.
ISSA has the following International Sections on Prevention of Occupational Risks: Agriculture; Construction Industry; Electricity; Chemical Industry; Mining Industry; Machine Safety; Iron and Metal Industry; Health Services; and (research) Information.
A range of publications are available on the site. The ISSA, an international grouping of authorities and institutions performing social security tasks, set up its Health Services Section in order to improve occupational safety in health services by international exchange of experiences.
